Championing Cyber Security Research and Policy

Cyber security. Those that know how important it is, really know. Those that don't, typically don't know the first thing, and don't particularly want to know.

Especially if they've come from a work environment that just 'took care' of 'this stuff' - where the big corporate machine had all the right technical things in place so that an individual could 'afford' to ignore the risks.

Not so in a small business.

In creating the pioneer cyber security strategy for our small business I had to overcome some long-ingrained attitudes to technology; old old bad habits and behaviours that left us open to real threats.

I conducted the research, engaged and managed a partner, and devised and rolled out the implementation plan for the solution I designed.

And I communicated the importance and urgency of the policy to a technically unwilling cohort.

I persuaded non-believing stakeholders to spend the time and money to keep our community safe.

And I developed and rolled out the plan to do so.

I'm proud of this work. It took strategy, design and technology know-how to complete.

Above is a teaser of the policy. The whole thing isn't very long - but if this isn't your jam it's not very interesting to read.
